(those that responded to the call for volunteers) Please visit HOTARC web site http://www.hotarc.org/events/ to find the details of the assignments and the course maps for this weekend's event. Lots of info below, so please read carefully. The first event starts at 8:15 am, second at 8:45 am, and there will be over 5000 people around the starting line. So, please try to be in position and "checked in" by 8:00 am at the very latest (preferably earlier). KC5NT has agreed to serve as Net Control. We'll use the BARC repeater 147.16 (tone 123). Handheld rigs on high power should work anywhere on the course. Mobile rigs can be switched to low power. KC5UOZ will man the ATV/SSTV operations (144.34 ATV net, 147.24 SSTV net--or other?). We might try an APRS tracker in the lead police car, too--just because we can. :-) If you received this email but aren't shown on the assignments, it's because you asked to be free to float around and take pictures for SSTV or something. Leon: As we did last year, I'm trusting you to staff the Baylor campus positions with TSG members. Since Net Control won't know the TSG call signs/positions, please advise your members to check in early and give their call signs and position--nice and slow and clear! :-) Also, feel free to place operators at new positions, if you see a need for one on the campus. I do not yet have t-shirts in my possession. (I'm not the only one behind the times here. :-) If I get them before race day, Stan has offered to deliver as many as he can. If you don't get yours before Saturday, come get yours at the trailer (parking lot beside City Hall), and plan to wear it while working the event. Thanks, everyone!! Remember: this is a practice for portable, emergency operations, but we can have a little fun, too. Bring that digital camera and we can post some of your photos on the HOTARC web site! See (and hear) ya Saturday morning! John, AC5CV Special Event Coordinator (for this event anyway)
