Volume XLVII, Number 4
April 2022
It is never too early to start thinking about Field Day. Field Day is June 25-26 this year. What are your plans? The club
plans to set up at the clubhouse again this year. We are currently working on some Public Relations plans that should
bring more people out to visit this year. Do you have a contact in local media or local government that would be a good
resource? Would you like to volunteer to help HOTARC during Field Day? We will need someone to supervise a GOTA
station. With a little luck and some scouts, we will need some help working on the Radio Merit Badge. If you have any
ideas or information, let me know at mike@na5x.com. If you are planning on coming out at all over the weekend, let me
know that as well. We will need a headcount for food. We are looking forward to a date to shake down the trailer, as
well. It is just around the corner; dont let it slip up on us.

McLennan County A.R.E.S.
by Paul Collins KG5DHS
McLennan County Emergency
Coordinator
Hi, HOTARC!
So far this spring storm season we have already had two Weather Net activations. Fortunately, most of the bad
weather missed the McLennan County area. There were tornadoes and strong storms all around us. Thanks to
all the participants and especially thanks to Bill (KD5UEW) for handling both
nets. We had nearly 30 check-ins including several Echolink contacts on both
Nets. Great job, y'all!!
As always, the ARES team is ready to deploy if needed. Thanks to everyone
who is part of the team!
If you are interested in becoming a member of McLennan County ARES, go to
the HOTARC Web site under the frequently asked questions and download
the application. E-mail or mail the completed application according to the
instructions listed at the bottom of the application. Your application will be
processed and you will receive an ARES ID Card. Check in to the Weekly
McLennan County ARES net every Monday at 8:00 PM on the 145.15 repeater
(tone 123.0). If you have a sincere desire to help, registration is necessary
before the next emergency, not after it occurs. We are also beginning to include our 70 cm repeater 442.875
MHz (input at +5.0 MHz, tone 123 Hz).
