SEPTEMBER 2024
VOLUME XLV, NUMBER 9
Hello, fellow hams!
From the desk of the president.
I’m excited to share that our Wild West 100 2024 was a fantastic success!
We proudly handled around 30 calls for aid and are gearing up to assist with
the Ironman event on October 6th.
A quick note: the trailer needs some TLC, and our very own Dave will be
replacing the plug this Monday before our meeting. Just a reminder, it
requires a 2 5/16 hitch. The computer and phone systems in the trailer
performed wonderfully, and we’re looking forward to further testing on
October 6th. If you’re available, your help would be greatly appreciated!
Additionally, I’m happy to announce that the club has acquired 500 feet of
LMR and will be working towards adding an APRS at 12th Street in the
coming weeks.
We will also be seeking club approval to allocate funds from the Wild West 100 to purchase 8 new radios
for SAG operations. These radios will enhance communication for our drivers and help standardize our
antennas. We're on the lookout for window mount antennas, especially since many new vehicles are
fiberglass.
Looking ahead, don’t forget that our next meeting is the homebrew gathering! Bring your home brews
whether it’s liquid or hardwareand join us for a fun show-and-tell session. I can’t wait to see what you all
have created!
See you Thursday at 7 PM!

Aaron Gustafson, KI5PCQ

Hi HOTARC!
What is NET CONTROL? I will be conducting a brief training

covering a few basics of NET CONTROL. Everyone is invited
but all ARES members are encouraged to stay. Should only take
a few minutes. I look forward to seeing everyone!
