W5NCD Tower at Bruceville-Eddy |
by Clint Anderson, AE5CA |
At the Annual Meeting (December 5, 2019), the Club Members voted to fund the replacement of the antennas on the W5NCD-Eddy tower used for the W5NCD, W5HAT, and W5ZDN repeaters. The existing antennas are 20 years old and are showing their age. The antenna shared by the W5NCD 147.24 repeater and our APRS system only works some of the time. It appears to have a broken connection that sometimes works, and sometimes not.

The biggest part of the cost of replacing any of these antennas will be the cost of the tower crew to do the actual work at the tower site. So, the decision was made to replace all three antennas while we had the crew there to replace the 147.24 antenna. In addition, we plan to install two new antennas at the same time.
At our January meeting, Clint Anderson, AE5CA will describe the work to be done, the progress made to date, and a plan for the upcoming work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Time flies when you’re having fun! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. As we start this New Year, HOTARC is already facing some challenges. We will be discussing these at the meeting this month.
Clint will present our program on the new equipment that we have purchased and where we stand. I know we all look forward to hearing his talk.
I look forward to this new year as it unrolls and working with each and everyone. Let’s be sure to welcome our new Officers and Directors. Don’t forget we are still looking for a new webmaster!
See you all at the meeting!!
